Curing Principle and Related Knowledge of LED UV Curing Machines
News 2026-04-20
With the continuous development of UV technology, many customers who have not used LED UV curing machines before make inquiries about them and intend to replace traditional mercury lamp production lines with LED UV curing lines.
UV curing refers to the process where a photoinitiator (or photosensitizer) is added to a specially formulated resin. After absorbing high-intensity ultraviolet light from a UV curing device, it generates active free radicals, triggering polymerization, cross-linking and grafting reactions. This turns the resin from liquid to solid within a few seconds.
Currently, the main UV curing equipment on the market includes LED UV curing machines and UV mercury lamps.

I. Main Parameters of LED UV Curing Machines
The four key parameters of an LED UV curing machine are:
- UV wavelength
- Irradiation intensity
- Irradiation area
- Curing speed
II. Influence of Related Parameters on UV Curing Quality
- Wavelength of LED UV curing machines
The 365nm spectrum is suitable for general photocuring inks (not for inks requiring special spectra such as frost finish or wrinkle finish). Customers are recommended to conduct photocuring tests before selecting an LED UV curing machine to verify whether the wavelength of the UV curing equipment meets the curing requirements. - Power of LED UV curing machines
Excessively high power of an LED UV curing machine may cause ink embrittlement, while insufficient power will fail to achieve the desired curing effect. Therefore, the light intensity and power of the equipment must be strictly tested. - Heat dissipation devices
LED UV curing machines generate a large amount of heat while emitting ultraviolet light, causing the internal temperature to rise continuously.
As a manufacturer of LED UV curing machines, KOINU provides two types of heat dissipation: air cooling and water cooling. Generally, air cooling is suitable for curing UV glue, and water cooling is suitable for curing UV inks.
